Tips On How To Play Poker
Poker is a game that is becoming more and more popular over the years. It can be played both online and offline amongst players numbering from just one all of the way up to hundreds or even thousands or many different tables. There are lots of forms of the game but for the purpose of this article we are going to be looking at how to play texas holdem no limit poker. So how do you play poker in this form?
Well, there can be more or less as many people as you like playing in a game of holdem, but rarely are you going to see a single table with more than ten people playing. The game will start when the dealer hands out two cards to each player. One play will be on the ‘button’ and this means that they are in the dealers position.
When the button is chosen then the player to their next will put in the small blind and the player to their left will put in the big blind. These blinds are small amounts of money or chips that are needed in order to stimulate play. After this the cards will be dealt out from the left of the button to each of the players around the table, with each one of them getting two ‘hole cards’ that only they are allowed to see.
These cards will be the most important part of the game and the aim as the hand progresses will be to link these cards with further cards that are placed onto the table, in order to find the best five card hand that you can, without others knowing about them.
The first person to make the bet will be the person to the left of the big blind. They will have to call at leas the level of the big blind if they are wanting to play in the hand but they can raise to any value that they wish above being double that of the big blind.
Once that player has bet the betting will continue clockwise until everyone has either called, raised or re-raised. The players who are left will see the flop. This will be three cards face up in the middle of the table. After the flop the person that is remaining in the hand who is closest to the left of the button will then have their chance to bet again. They can also ‘check’ which means that no bet is placed.
After the turn there will be a third round of betting and then the final card called the ‘river’ will be placed on the table. After the river each player will be able to work out their best hand from the 7 on the table and in their hand, but they can only use their top five cards. Now a final round of betting will happen and the winner will be the player with the best hand. After this the next hand will start and the game will continue until someone has won all of the chips or money in play.
And this is, very briefly, how a hand is played out in texas holdem.
