Phillip D’s Texas Holdem Secrets Exposed Review

Phillip D promises to give you two proven poker systems in his Texas Holdem Secrets Exposed report plus a whole host of other goodies such as 25  Texas Holdem strategies to help improve your game so that you’ll be in profit.

So, what do you get? And do the two systems live up to the promises?

The main report covers the 25 poker strategies.

There’s also some general advice for those who are either starting out or have yet to start actually winning poker tournaments. This is sound advice and something that we’re all apt to forget once in a while in our quest for winnings.

This is followed up with some advice on being patient. If you’ve ever been itching to play a hand, even though you know the chance of winning on it are low, and played anyway (and lost) then you’ll relate to this section.

The same goes for the third part of this section, which covers how to avoid getting bored and frustrated. Sometimes it seems that the online dealer has got it in for you and keeps giving you hands that basically give you no option but to fold. If this goes on too long – like it did for me for over an hour in a real life game I was playing at a friend’s house – then the temptation is to play the hands anyway. Just to liven things up…

Simply following the advice in these first few sections will likely change the way you play poker and could stop you from losing money time after time.

Next up is a strategy you should adopt with starting hands. This shows you which are the best starting hands and also tells you how aggressive you should be when you are dealt one of these potentially winning hands.

As you may be aware, how you play your hands is also affected by how many people are in the game. This is well covered – there’s even a chart that shows playable starting hands at all stages of a tournament (starting, middle and late).texas-holdem-secrets

After that is a strategy for how you should play pre-flop and post-flop. Again, how you play this depends on your position at the table and there’s plenty of good, sensible information to cover near enough any eventuality. Including a neat way of playing when it’s your turn to be dealer.

Another strategy deals with betting to win. It discusses the art of betting to increase your chance of winning any given hand. Which includes some advice on how you can often steal the pot.

I should have read the section on becoming an aggressive player ages ago! Especially when I play offline – it’s not unheard of for everyone to fold if I place a bet at these games as everyone groans “oh, he’s got a good hand!” You’ll find out how to overcome this problem and start winning money, rather than watching everyone else fold because they realise you only bet when you’ve got an excellent hand.

There’s also a section on bluffing. Again, something I’m personally not too good at and need to improve my skills. This part covers bluffing pre-flop and post-flop as well as why this strategy doesn’t work on bad players. So you may not be able to practice this at very low stake levels or in things like freeroll tournaments where players haven’t got much (if any) of their own cash at stake.

Certain hands (Ace King for instance) need to be played in certain ways to maximize your chance of winning with them. There’s a good section on playing these hands, with the logic behind the instructions well explained.

If you play re-buy tournaments, there’s a section on playing these. The techniques you should use in these tournaments vary from regular sit’n'go tournaments because of the re-buy option. So if you’ve ignored these profit opportunities before now, there are some good ideas in this chapter.

If you always hate folding your hand, the section that deals with the thorny problem of when to fold and when not to is a must read. Including a suggestion that I’m going to try next time I’m playing a poker tournament online.

Most books on poker talk about “tells” and there’s a chapter dealing with these. Unusually, this is split out into face to face tells and online tells.

Chances are that you won’t be using all 25 of the strategies explained in this report. Taking a little bit of time to master these new strategies – maybe just one a week – will transform the way you play your game and how much profit you earn from it.

The second report covers the two systems promised in the headline.

One covers short handed sit’n'go tournaments and the other system looks at heads up games, which are often ignored in favor of tournaments.

The focus on short handed sit’n'go tournaments – rather than the 10 person tournaments most of us play – is explained well, starting with two different opening techniques you can use profitably for this type of tournament.

You’re then given the techniques Phillip D recommends you to use in the middle of the tournament and, importantly, in the final stages.

There are 7 keys to success discussed and a cheat sheet that you can print out and stick close to your screen when you’re playing these tournaments.

Lastly, there’s a discussion on heads up games. Whilst these aren’t to everyone’s taste, this is a little-discussed section of playing poker online. The techniques in this kind of game are different – you can’t just translate a heads up scenario from a regular poker tournament, for instance. Again, there’s a cheat sheet for you to print out and refer to as needed.

The package also comes with 3 MP3 files. These are a great way of reinforcing what’s been covered in the two main reports. You can burn them to your a CD to play in your car or transfer them to your iPod to listen to whenever you want.

On top of that, there’s an instructional video so you can see Phillip D using the tips and strategies covered in the reports in an actual, live, poker game.

Verdict

Texas Holdem Secrets Exposed is excellent value for money.

The strategies and systems are well explained and it’s good that you can learn them from both a regular report and by listening to the audio version. This is a great option for using otherwise “dead” time (such as a commute to work) to learn how to improve your poker game.
