if we’re talkin about harrington’s m, it’s not just BB, it’s SB + BB + total ante. in this case it’s sb+bb not just bb. so 12/3=4m

His point about push/fold is correct. But you calculate your M based on one pass around the table, not the size of the big blind, so his M is 4 rather than 6.

With an M of 4 (or 6), suited connectors lose their value because you do not have implied odds for your draw. You would be much better off pushing with K-5o than 87s, because the King gives you the ability to win without pairing if you are called by QJ or J10.

Also, only push when you’re first in the pot.

If it comes to you on the small blind and you are first-in, the best thing to do with suited connectors is go all in with only 6BB in your stack. And even say the big blind has a monster pair like AA or KK, you still have the best chance against him with 78 suited than say a lower pocket pair. Chance of getting a better hand in a good position again before the blinds kill you is slim.

funny because i was playing short stack in a tournament and got TT i raised all in and this big stack calls me with J 7. ha funny how he hits runner runner trip 7′s then.
I was playing on Full Tilt then.

Thats a very stupid move. You should raise with just over a third your stack which shows to most players you have a good hand when really you have small suited connectors. So when the flop comes if it hits you good go all in,but even if it misses go all in if you see an A,K or Q on the board, cuz then it makes it look like your pre flop raise was a high card hand like AK or AQ. 7 times out of 10 that flop didnt hit your opponent.

If I’m in all in or fold mode I usaly pick a hand like AQ or 99. With suited connectors I want to see a cheap flop. But if I have to either go all in or fold I’m probably folding suited connectors.

and also, waiting for that big hand makes a double up worthless for two reasons 1) his stack will have been depleated by the blinds and antes and more calls are likely, also, a double up will be worthless if your stack’s too small, especially considering that the blinds will probavbly increased during the wait.

better to go down fightng a player than letting the blinds kill you

well that’s my opinion and makes me more money. better to go for the win than limp into the money.

  22. Posted by TheDanshreddies April 8th, 2011 at 3:25 am

if first in pot his bet isn’t too bad, the caling range of any realistic cal has any 2 face cards or any weak ace, dominated. if he goes in with his 89s hes got less chance of being dominated and isnt as far behind ak as he wud be w8n for an ace rag and getin caled by a by a biger ace. id take 89s vs ak over a5s vs ak anyday

he has more fold equity shoving. the smal bet alows the big blind in cheaper knowing that he has position post flop to shove on the small stack if he misses and checks.
