Poker Tips: 10 Basic Tips for Playing Poker

All we would like to become a better poker player, the problem is that often we do not know really where to start.

We’ve read Sklansky, memorizing mathematical formulas so complex that being able to make predictions of the weather by reading coffee grounds but still could not finish a game of poker without the bitter taste that he always made that mistake there. What makes us feel every time somewhere between sad and a bit ‘stupid.

To try to fight this cursed feeling of helplessness in front of our most victories, now let’s see together 10 valuable tips to start winning.

Read on to the end and prepare to be surprised by the surprise of no points on the list because, after all, it’s just applying common sense of even the poker tournaments.

That sense that we throw away as soon as the dealer gives us a damn AJ …

1. Do not play all the hands / Learn the art of folding

Probably the most common mistake for inexperienced players.

Who knows how many times have you heard (or thought maybe yourself) “I came to play poker, so I want to play” by someone who complained of being too cautious of other players.

The problem is that the result of the desire for action at any cost of these Indiana Jones of poker is almost always directly proportional to the amount of hands played in accordance with the simple equivalence: the more you play = the more you lose.

My advice? If you stay in half or more of the total hands played, at least try to be sure you know by heart the “5 hands at Risk for Beginners” – or to resign the post-tournament full of regrets and sarcasm.

2. Do not drink too much

It is undeniable that we are in a casino, a club or at home with friends, a good glass chips next to us is perfect.

It is also that perfect moment, a bit ‘to cut the tension (yours) and increase the suspense (the opponents), will take a few seconds pause to bring to your mouth or drink your beer, nothing to say regard.

The problem, however, comes when the glasses begin to multiply, the mind relaxes … and the chips are starting to go away at a speed absolutely absurd.

In short, even if poker is not exactly a piece of peach juice, eye all’alcohol if two glasses can make you feel more relaxed and ready to play, within minutes you can end up playing too loose and unable to reflect and how should you bet on the value of hands.

To you to judge how this can be dangerous to the final result.

3. Bluff to bluff is so stupid

Many beginners think that bluffing is a fundamental part of poker, even if, in fact, fail to understand why.

There are no precise rules for bluffing successfully, although there are some players who can not feel satisfied unless they win at least once due to a bluff on the sly.

Of course, the pleasure of winning without the strongest hand is very big, but beware of the risks and understand your opponents before you qualasiasi thing.

So, if anyone still goes always to the showdown, it is not going to re-raise to infinity, which convinces him to let the victory of the hand … that it is better not to bluff “just in case.”

4. Do not stand in one hand just because we are now

Another fairly common mistake made by beginners is to think that “now I put in the pot so much that I have to stay in the game.”

Nonsense. If there are chances that your hand better, it will not be throwing more money you win. What you put into the pot no longer belong to you anymore and it is continuing to play it you can catch him.

5. Do not keep calling just to be sure

This point should be read together with the previous year. Many players continue playing for inertia, because “there are now” and although I’m sure that they have no chance of winning, they still want to do with what they have been beaten.

How many players continue to raise the final call only “to be safe”, continuing to waste money and chips as if nothing had happened. Sure, sometimes it can be helpful to see the cards to an opponent even to learn to understand it better … but if you really believe that they have nothing in hand … that you need to give your bankroll to your opponents?

6. Do not play if you’re in a bad mood

Playing poker in order to forget a bad day or some other kind of temper is a wonderful choice.

The risk of playing with the emotions and the mind is around the corner – and the tilt is always to be avoided.

The same applies if, in play, you find yourself losing a hand and feel the unexpected star beginning to feel a certain nervousness. Get up from the table, take a break, relax.

Because if your opponents see that you are in trouble, then treat you as if you have a small red light in the center of the forehead …

7. Pay attention to the cards on the table

We said a week ago: learn to read the board.

Take at least 10 seconds just to study the community cards and understand what are the possible combinations which we can realistically aim. When you are sure you have identified the possibilities of your projects straight or flush and your opponent is your moment.

8. Pay attention to other players

The more you play, the more it becomes crucial to learn to observe their opponents – yes, even when you’re not playing a particular hand.

Try to understand how other players behave in front of rerise, bluffs, and how to change their strategy depending on the position in the table: you can rarely have the advantages of this best during a game.

9. Do not play with the limits too high

For some strange reason, there are people who can not understand their limits and end up losing fortunes just because they play too high.

A successful night on tables $ 2 / 4 does not mean you’re really ready to play $ 5 / 10, think again before you change!

Stakes higher should never be chosen to impress someone or because there are fewer players at the table (and therefore less minutes to wait before playing): change level only, only and only when you are 100% sure of potervelo afford.

10. Choose the right game for your quality and your bankroll

One of the reasons why some money won on tables $ 2 / 4 should not make you run and play more games is because, higher level, is always also an increase in the average level of players, which of course makes everything more difficult.

If you are able to win a $ 2 / 4, why change?! Keep playing and winning for the sake of your bankroll. Ultimately, it is always better to be the best in the table “than” the chicken of the most difficult, no?
