Is Poker a Game of Gambling or Skill?

This is one of the more sought after questions in the poker industry and one that tends to be avoided by people. People cannot really answer this question because there is real answer, it’s a bit like asking how was the universe created and what came first the chicken or the egg. But let’s have a brief look at unravelling some of the answers and seeing what the game is all about, is it just skill or luck?

Luck
Lets first have a look at why you have to be lucky to play poker, because you do not have judgement over how the cards are in fact dealt, you have to be lucky to be dealt the best possible hand, by getting a bad hand time after time you will never get any where in a game, unless of course you have the nerve and skill.

Skill
Skill is a very important and crucial factor in a game of poker, simply because you have to know when the time is right to pull out so that you do not end up loasing lots of money. You also need to know know the exact time to call a bluff.

In my opinion I feel that the game is actually about both elements. But over time I feel skill creeps in more and more. For example if a beginner poker player played ten games against a person of high calibre then they would probably end up winning 1 or 2 but the advanced player would come out a lot more higher.
