Is online poker for real money legal in the state of Florida?
I am considering using my poker skills to make some extra money gambling online, but do not want to violate any laws. I am new to the state of Florida, so I am unsure of the state laws that pertain to online gambling for real money. Could someone please give me the scoop? Layman’s terms please. I do not not need replicated statutes that make it hard to understand. Thanks.

I think Florida is one of the states where its legal, infact the situation in whole USA with gambling is not clear enough, but there are no laws against it. Only law against banks that allow people to deposit to gambling sites. You will not be persecuted for playing online poker, thats for sure, there are millions of americans playing online.

As others have said, the answer to your question is “no”. On-line gambling IS legal in the USA.
“Be careful” is the only thing I’d like to add! Playing for money on-line is not the same as playing live poker. If you are consistently winning at live poker, you certainly COULD win on-line, but it’s a tougher skill level on-line.
Proceed with caution.

I’m not sure. This online poker site is legal in the US ( http://www.nopaypoker.com/?refid=noreality ) because you don’t gamble any of your own money. All of the players money comes from ads. It’s free and doesn’t require personal information… Cashes out to Paypal, Neteller, and Moneybookers.

Currently, it’s completely legal in Florida. However, there is discussion in the State Legislature regarding it, with some proposing a complete ban (albeit, with no reasonable explanation how they would enforce it) and others proposing some degree of control and taxation (ditto.)
